Mandala Arabesque Color Wheels painted from Primaries
PostSecret inspired Visual Journals
This Project was inspired by PostSecret.com which is a website and database of an accumulation of private secrets and reflections posted or sent in by anonymous artists and everyday people. Students were shown examples and given prompts to inspire concepts. Some prompts included, tell me your strongest belief, where do belief come from? Make a bucket list and think about long and short term goals. Others were personal, for instance tell me about you most proud and shameful moment. From these prompts students were asked to write and reflect and come up with a visual secret, or a visual reflection. To create these images students learned about mixed media, collage, assemblage and photomontage. This was an independent project done by art 2 students. I was impressed with some of the critical thinking this project created and some of the strong visual statements made. Enjoy =)
Narrative Mixed Media Paintings
These paintings were created using an image transfer process where students used modpodge or gel medium to transfer an image to a canvas and rub away the paper then paint and embellish.
Over sized Pinwheel
This project was a 6 part project for special needs students. This project was designed to get students to experiment with multiple medias, 2D and 3D art. This student used color pencil overlay techniques, oil pastel scratch board, watercolor washes, marker pattern and design, and Jackson Pollock inspired paint splattering with acrylic.
